Loan Amount: USD 4,500

Mahira Abu Saada transformed a simple idea into a successful family business in the medical supplies sector. Recognizing a gap in the market for reliable, affordable home medical equipment, she decided to establish a business that combines technical expertise with a genuine commitment to serving the community.

In mid-2023, after developing a well-structured business plan, Mahira received a USD 4,500 loan from ACAD for Finance and Development. The financing marked a turning point, enabling her to transform her vision into a thriving enterprise.

Her business specializes in the sale and distribution of home medical equipment and supplies, including blood pressure and blood glucose monitors, personal protective equipment, hospital beds, wheelchairs, and other home diagnostic devices. The project is built on a strong family partnership: Mahira manages the business operations and marketing, while her husband, a biomedical engineer, provides technical expertise and ensures the quality of the products and services.

To expand her reach, Mahira launched the Facebook page, where she shares educational content on the proper use of medical devices. This approach helped build customer trust, strengthen loyalty, and significantly increase demand for her products.

As her business grew, Mahira invested the loan strategically by expanding her inventory of high-demand products and strengthening relationships with suppliers to secure more competitive prices. These efforts led to a substantial increase in sales and enabled her to reach customers beyond her local community.

The project’s success has had a meaningful impact on her family’s livelihood. It has increased their monthly income, enabled them to repay the loan on schedule, improved their standard of living, and allowed them to plan for future expansion, including opportunities in the field of digital health.

Alongside her entrepreneurial journey, Mahira works as an English language teacher at Al-Amal Secondary School, demonstrating her ability to balance her professional career, business responsibilities, and family life.

Today, Mahira takes pride in establishing herself in a competitive market and becoming a role model for women entrepreneurs. She believes that her achievement is the result of determination, the support of her husband, and the financing she received from ACAD. Looking ahead, she remains committed to expanding her business and creating an even greater impact in her community.
